In addition to still images, many Spotlite shoots also include video content. Two common formats are the “making-of film” and the “brand film.” While both are video-based, they serve different purposes and should be clearly distinguished in your contract.
• Making-of Film (Behind-the-Scenes): A casual video that captures the atmosphere or behind-the-scenes moments of the shoot. It’s usually filmed with a phone or a simple device and often used for teasers or social media content. Even though making films are light in production, they still count as video work and may incur additional fees if not specified in advance.
• Brand Film: A professionally-produced video intended for use on a brand’s official website, main promotional channels, advertising, or exhibitions. Because of its higher production value and broader exposure, brand films typically require higher rates and more detailed negotiation. Brand films often include brand storytelling, product showcases, or campaign messages.
Both types of video content require the model’s explicit consent and prior agreement. If you plan to shoot any video content, we recommend specifying the purpose and usage in your initial request.
These details will also be reflected as separate items in the contract, which helps prevent future misunderstandings.
